What Is An Oil Catch Can?
An oil catch can intercepts oily crankcase vapour before it reaches the intake, keeping valves and charge air cleaner. It's a maintenance and longevity mod, not a power part.
How it works
Engines route crankcase blow-by back into the intake through the PCV system, and that vapour carries oil mist. On direct-injection engines especially, that oil bakes onto the intake valves over time because no fuel washes them. A catch can sits in the PCV line, condenses the oil into a reservoir you empty periodically, and passes cleaner air onward. A sealed can that returns filtered vapour to the intake is the tidy, emissions-friendly design.
What to actually expect
You won't feel it on the road, but over years it keeps intake valves and intercooler pipework cleaner. Buy a quality sealed can and empty it at services. Avoid vent-to-atmosphere setups: they smell, make a mess, and cause legality problems in most places.
